Trump and Xi to Exchange State Visits After ‘Amazing’ Meeting Secures Pact

A new era of diplomacy appears to be dawning between the US and China, with President Donald Trump announcing plans to visit China in April. This comes after what he described as an “amazing” meeting with President Xi Jinping that resulted in a one-year trade pact.

Trump also confirmed that President Xi would reciprocate with a visit to the United States sometime after April, suggesting locations like Palm Beach, Florida, or Washington, D.C. This exchange signals a significant warming of relations.

The diplomatic breakthrough was underpinned by a tangible agreement. The US will slash some tariffs and export controls, while China agreed to buy US soybeans and pause new curbs on rare earth minerals.

This deal also delayed a contentious US measure for one year. The rule would have blocked many Chinese firms from accessing US technology if they had partial ownership from a sanctioned company, a major point of friction for Beijing.

President Xi, speaking at the APEC forum in Gyeongju, South Korea, reinforced this positive momentum. He called for “genuine multilateralism” and urged nations to safeguard supply chains, stating that dialogue is “always better than confrontation.”
