These compounds are frequently employed in packaged and processed foods to enhance shelf life, preserve quality, and maintain flavor. The study noted that individuals with higher levels of exposure to these additives experienced an increased likelihood of developing hypertension and cardiovascular conditions.

While experts caution that the presence of these ingredients in food products does not automatically imply harm, the findings emphasize the importance of maintaining a balanced diet. Regularly consuming highly processed foods, especially when combined with other lifestyle factors, may elevate health risks.
